Newquay- traditionally known for its long stretch of golden beaches and Britain's favourite surf spot.
Newquay is an ideal base for the wonder that is the Cornish Peninsula and your family holiday in Cornwall.
Whether you are interested in the breathtaking scenery and coastal walks,
the quaint Cornish fishing villages and boat trips, glorious gardens or challenging
golf courses , Newquay is the ideal place to base your holiday.
Combined with all the home comfort and traditional cooking of the Alicia
Guesthouse you will want to visit Cornwall again and again.
The soaring cliffs of the Cornish Coast , sheltered coves,
interesting rock pools and soft golden beaches
are what make the town so popular.
When the sand between your toes gets too much or the children require further entertainment there is
fun to be had at Swimming World , playing crazy golf and testing your sea legs at the Boating Lake.
Or enjoy a gallop along the Gannel Estuary.
The golden beaches are continued through
the surrounding coastline of Crantock and Holywell Bay
where you can loose yourself in the sand dunes,
or Bedruthan Steps where you can cast your mind back
to the days of smuggling and imagine yourself as an extra in "Poldark".
If you prefer fishing boat trips are available
from Newquay Harbour. Picturesque Padstow is only a short drive away.
On the south coast are the fishing village's of Mevagissey and Newlyn.
For traditional boats and a real feel of Cornwall's smuggling past
visit the historic port of Charlestown where square rigged
sailing ships can often be seen.
There are many beautiful gardens to be explored on the Cornish Peninsula-
some with species of plants only found here in Cornwall.
The
Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The Eden Project is only a short drive from Newquay
and on nearly every tourist's 'must see' list.
. For other more traditional gardens and great houses nearby what about
Lanhydrock (NT) , Trerice (NT) and Prideaux Place?
Beautiful Trebah with its chusan palms is only a leisurely 40 mins drive across to the Helford River.
For real garden enthusiasts why not take a
helicopter flight from Penzance to the Scillies and the sub-tropical Island of Tresco?
