The 1st of May sees Padstow Cornwall decorated with the first greenery of the year. Bluebells, and hazel twigs. The procession of the Padstow Obby Oss, teazer and the dancers, singers, and musicians playing a hypnotic tune, to celebrate the coming of spring.

Helston May Day Floral Dance

The Helston Furry Dance is one of the oldest surviving customs in the Country. Flora Day is a festival to celebrate the coming of spring and the passing of winter. Its origins are in pagan times. The dances take the form of dignified processions. For the Principal Dance the gentlemen wear top hats and tails, the ladies in their finest dresses, and the children all in white. Helston town is emblazoned with the first greenery of spring- particularly bluebells and hazel. A quaint old Cornish town.

Trevithick Day Always held on the last Saturday of April. Join the townsfolk of Camborne and steam enthusiasts from all over the Country as they celebrate his life. See the sights, sounds and smells as hopefully the steam engines climb Camborne Hill.
